Discovery and ideation
The project began with in-depth market research focusing on purse organization. We discovered that none of the established purse organizers care about sustainability or aesthetic demands, hence there is a market niche focusing on fashionable nomads.
People who possess at least one bag spend a lot of time every day rummaging around for their belongings. This means that there is a definite need for finding a solution to keep possessions at hand and move them from one bag to another without leaving anything behind.
The ideas was to create MABOU, the handbag organizer.
This fashionable organizer is meant to look so good you won’t always want to hide it inside another bag.
Prototyping
MABOU is a product that can be split into two primary use cases: organization and using it as a single purse. Based on interview findings we came up with the following criteria to ensure product adoption: pricing, aesthetics and utility.
We put a special focus on lightweight, sustainable and timeless materiality.
It’s the little things
MABOU comes with it’s own strap which can be quickly attached to make it easy to carry.
Findings
Based on the findings from idea pitches we were able to consider user demands in the prototype development.
Our crowdfunding campaign, which was shared on kickstarter.com, demonstrated interest in our product on a multinational scale. We discovered that further development and successful funding requires a broad network to reach profitable production and distribution.
We identified an opportunity for handbag users to make everyday life easier with a functional, aesthetic and sustainable solution.
